This gut-friendly morning elixir will keep you feeling refreshed all year round, and it can be whipped up in no time. 

We all know that sometimes mornings can be rough, but what if I told you you could start every day feeling your best and nourishing your body? Along with small, healthy habits like eating a nutritious breakfast, drinking plenty of water, taking vitamins and using elderberry syrup, I’ve been adding something new to my morning routine. 

That new thing is an elderberry ginger lemon tonic. This tonic is a light and refreshing drink that I started having a couple of mornings a week. I mean, who doesn't love an extra boost of vitamins and antioxidants to start the day?

Fresh ginger, lemon, elderberry syrup and honey blend perfectly to create this thoughtful, wellness-packed tonic. These ingredients are immune-supporting and aid in healthy digestion. 

I aim to make this drink about three times a week and drink it in the mornings as a healthy reset to start the day. When I find something I can easily incorporate into my week that tastes great and gives my body an extra boost, I usually don’t pass it up.

  • The antibacterial properties of raw honey are effective in fighting off infections and bacteria, and especially soothing for a sore throat and cough.

Step-By-Step Instructions

Make sure all your ingredients are gathered and ready. It won’t be long before you’re sipping on this refreshing tonic, and it’ll be so worth it, trust me. Alright, now let’s whip up a glass. 

Instructions:

  • Pour the water into a pot and add the ginger slices. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 10 minutes. 

  • After it’s finished simmering, you can scoop out or strain out the ginger slices and discard them. 

  • Now you can add the raw honey, lemon juice and elderberry syrup into the ginger water and mix well!

  • Serve it in a mug as a warm cozy drink, or over ice for a refreshing sip!

Kick back, and savor each sip of this sweet and tangy elderberry ginger lemon tonic — you’re doing your body and health a huge favor with this wholesome drink. 

You can absolutely adjust this recipe to your liking; it’s easy to customize. If you prefer a stronger ginger flavor, let it simmer a bit longer. If you like it sweeter, add a little extra raw honey. 

Some mornings I enjoy this warm, and other days I pour it over ice for a refreshing twist. There’s no wrong way to enjoy it, the goal is simply to enjoy each health-boosting sip!
