Spring Clean Your Body: Simple Detox Tips for a Fresh Start

dipping a salad of healthy foods

Small habits can lead to a healthier body and mindset. Start this spring off by supporting and refreshing yourself naturally.

Winter is fading away, the birds are chirping, the air is warmer and the days feel brighter. Spring is finally here; this is my favorite season. It just feels like the perfect time of the year, not too hot and not too cold.

Every spring, I get this burst of motivation to do all the things I never have the energy for and to step up my wellness game, too. This year, I’ve felt the urge to incorporate more small, doable healthy habits into my routine. Almost like “spring cleaning”, but for my health, a gentle detox for a fresh start.

Small things like staying hydrated, sipping tea, supporting your liver, eating nourishing foods and forming healthy daily habits can set you on the right path this year to walk in wellness.

That’s why today I want to share with you some simple ways you can put your best foot forward this year, detox naturally and feel your absolute best. It can all start this spring. Even though our bodies already have an incredible built-in detox system, like the liver, kidneys, digestive system, skin, lungs and lymphatic system, sometimes they need our support.

Are you ready to start afresh after a dreary, long winter? My body definitely needs a reset, so if yours does too, let’s do it together.

Four Habits to Detox & Refresh

Supporting your body and prioritizing your wellness doesn’t have to be complicated or stressful. It can be a calming, motivating and rejuvenating process.

Alright, time to get to business. Here are four simple habits you can start now to kickstart this spring and the rest of the year.

Ready, set, go.

1. Stay Hydrated, Always

Hydration is a simple and crucial way to support your body’s detox system. Water plays a huge role in helping your body function properly. Staying hydrated can help the kidneys filter waste, improve circulation, aid digestion and transport essential nutrients throughout the body.

When you’re dehydrated, all of these processes slow down, making it harder for your body to detox and function properly. Mild dehydration is a lot more common than you may think, and can happen more often during the winter months when it’s cold and dry.

Make hydration a priority in your daily routine, and you will help your body detox and work at its best.

Here are some simple hydration tips:

  • Drink at least half your body weight in ounces of water a day.

  • Start your morning by drinking lemon water.

  • Add natural minerals, like a sprinkle of salt, to your water.

  • Keep a water bottle with you throughout the day to track your intake.

Making simple shifts can help you stay hydrated, so that your body can get the support it needs.

2. Sip on Nourishing Teas

Herbal teas can be a delicious, simple way to nourish your body and boost your detox function. Teas provide great hydration along with fantastic benefits from plants like flowers, dried fruits, tea leaves, herbs and spices.

Here are some of our popular teas that I’m sure you’ll love:

  • Decaffeinated Mango Tango Green Tea: This isn’t your classic green tea; it’s decaffeinated, full of antioxidants and also made with mango, adding an herbal twist.

  • Strawberry Breeze Green Tea: If you don’t mind caffeine, you’ll have to try this one out for sure. The green tea and subtle strawberry flavor create a heavenly drink.

  • Immunity Infusion Tea: This blend of elderberries, rosehips, lemongrass, hibiscus, cloves, peppermint and orange peel makes the ultimate immune-boosting drink.

  • Turmeric Golden Tea: Turmeric, blended with Ceylon cinnamon, ginger and black pepper. This tea is unique, rich in antioxidants and packed with anti-inflammatory properties.

  • Soothing Elderberry Tea: This simple elderberry tea blend is full of amazing health-boosting ingredients that support immunity and reduce inflammation.

  • Calming Chamomile Tea: Chamomile is known for its soothing properties, like a sleepy-time tea. But it does more than that; it can also calm your overall nerves and support healthy digestion.

Our loose-leaf teas are made with the highest-quality, clean and trustworthy ingredients. There are no fillers or toxic ingredients, just pure goodness in a glass jar.

3. Eat Liver Supporting Foods

Your liver is your body’s primary detox organ, so taking care of it should be a priority. The liver works hard to filter out toxins, regulate hormone levels and produce bile to carry away waste.

Because your liver is vital for detoxifying your body, it should be supported regularly. To do this, simply eat nourishing foods that support and nourish your liver. Most whole foods contain many compounds that help the liver function properly day in and day out.

Here are some foods you can incorporate into your diet to support your liver and detox pathways.

  • Leafy Greens: Greens like spinach, arugula and kale contain chlorophyll and antioxidants that can help eliminate toxins.

  • Cruciferous Veggies: Veggies like broccoli, cabbage and Brussels sprouts contain sulfur, which supports enzyme detoxification.

  • Garlic & Onions: These two, like cruciferous veggies, contain sulfur that helps with detoxification.

  • Avocados: The polyphenols in avocados have been found to slow liver damage, and the healthy fats can help reduce inflammation and fat buildup in the liver.

  • Beets: Beets contain a compound called betaine, which may help prevent and manage non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).

  • Turmeric: This potent antioxidant works to protect liver cells from damage and reduce fat accumulation and inflammation.

  • Citrus Fruits: Lemons, oranges and grapefruits are very rich in vitamin C, which helps protect the liver and produce enzymes.

Adding these foods to your daily diet can set your body on the right path to supporting and caring for your liver, which is essential to detoxification.

4. Improve Healthy Digestion

Once your body filters out toxins, they have to be eliminated. That’s where the digestive system really matters. Healthy digestion keeps the toxins moving until they are excreted in waste. But when digestion slows down, those toxins remain in your body longer than they need to be.

Some foods to support digestion are:

  • Sauerkraut

  • Kimchi

  • Keifer

  • Greek yogurt

  • Whole grains

  • Avocados

  • Legumes

Healthy habits like staying hydrated, eating fiber-rich foods, moving your body daily and eating gut-healthy foods can make a huge difference in how you feel and how your digestive system functions.
